Better care through better practice
The biomechanical model of the Colles fracture was developed by Aries Oldenhuis: a former casting technician at the Martini Hospital. The Martini Hospital in Groningen is a training hospital, a "Santeon Hospital": a collaboration of seven top clinical hospitals in the Netherlands.

All traditional reduction methods can be practiced on the Colles model. The model feels like a 'real' arm with a Colles fracture: the same forces and precise grips are needed to reduce properly. Thanks to the semi-transparent silicone material you can immediately see (and feel) whether the reduction was successful. The traditional reduction methods can be used by doctors with sterile glove size 8 or larger.
One size fits all!
In order to teach the ever-growing group of people with smaller hands how to reduce, the method "reduction with 2 x 3-point pressure" has been developed with the help of this model. In the manual, you will find instructions on how to use this method.
If you require further instructions on the use of this method or the Colles fracture model, please feel free to contact us. We are happy to answer your questions or organize a workshop in your hospital.
